retarding the timing

I'm new here, this messege board is so useful.

I have a question. I just put in my JRSC on my Integra GS. I love the power it gives. i haven't dyno the car as of yet, but planning to on Wed.
Can you give me some info as to what degree i sould retard the timing to get max. power out of the sc without an detonation/problems!

First: Welcome to the board.

It would depend on many factors...like AC, power steering, if you have a BTC etc... I would set timing to what Jackson Racing tells you to set it at in the manual.

BTW, tell us your ENTIRE setup. I mean EVERYTHING engine related like... motor, plugs, exhaust, intake.....EVERYTHING!

The JR manual tells me to retard my timing to 10 degrees. Someone told me that i could increase the timing to 12 degrees to get more out of the SC. Yes i do have cruise control and power steering, also a/c.
Will the boost controller help? AND will the MAP sensor control work for my car? I heard that the MAP sensor goes after the sc not before it! What do you think?

Its better to be safe than sorry. having the timing more retarded than advanced is safer.

i was told 8-10 degrees for the stock kit with no extras... mine is more towards 8 right now.

I think Hondata is the way to go, but for a 6psi set up, just get the JR map controller, it really helps with tip-in detonation. You would then be able to advance your timing a little.

I have a manual tranny. Ya i retarded the timing to 10 degrees. I was told that advancing it to 12 degrees should be ok, but i don't know for sure if it is ok.
The boost controller and the MAP controller are two different things right?!
I heard that the MAP controller goes after the super charger, so it won't matter for my car, is this true?
NEED INPUTS PLEASE!

I got the JR high pressure fuel pump, it's made by Walbro right? What number is the Walbro, cause they have different models for it. Thanks

Oh ya one other thing guys, does your exaust sound quieter with the JRSC?

I've been driving with stock timing on my 98 ls for over 6 months with no pinging. And i'm using 91 octane.

The stock setting for MY 98TEG is 16 degrees. Is your set at that? I retarded my timing to 10 degrees, but want to advance the timing to about 12 degrees.
So are you sure that your not hearing any knocking or pinging sound? Are you using the JR boost timing control? What about the MAP sensor?

I've had my JRSC in for about 2 weeks now.
